Calhoun Falls

The Heart of Abbeville's freshwater coast is a picturesque mill town with plenty of recreational facilities on Lake Russell. Organized in the 1890`s, the town of Calhoun Falls was laid out on the banks of the Savannah River at the junction of the C&WC and SAL railroads.

It had its early growth around the old Calhoun Falls Mill built in 1908 and this historic three-story brick textile mill is still in operation today. As its name indicates, it stands on land once in the Calhoun family. Calhoun Falls is only 1 mile from the Calhoun Falls State Park.
